Goldfield Estates and Pandora Properties are planning up to 200 homes on land at Eynsham.
Via Barton Willmore, the joint applicants have applied to West Oxfordshire District Council for a screening opinion over the need for an environmental impact assessment to build on 11.03 hectares of agricultural land at Derrymerrye Farm and The Long Barn.
They want to demolish outbuildings including former stables while keeping some existing homes.
The site, south of a long lay-by on the A40, lies within the West Eynsham Strategic Development Area which has an allocation of 1,000 homes.
