Jet Sim School is set for its next phase of business growth in Spring 2020.
The Peterborough-based aviation training company has taken on a lease on a new premises in the Woodston commercial district of the city.
Acting on behalf of the landlord, the Peterborough office of Barker Storey Matthews (now part of Eddisons), has let 9 Maxwell Road, Woodston to Jet Sim School, currently based in Orton Southgate.
The training company was established in 2015 by Jonathan Lockton, a former IT professional, who first operated the company from Sibson airfield before moving to a small unit at Culley Court in 2018.
The purpose in seeking new premises in which to expand the business from its core activity of providing training for commercial and private pilots centred around a Boeing 737 flight simulator, is to also offer pilot experiences to the corporate hospitality industry as well.
In order to achieve this, Mr Lockton needed sizeable and accessible space of a certain layout and quality fit-out.
Mr Lockton explained: “Number 9 Maxwell Road provided the ideal premises at the perfect time for us.”
He added: “It’s an industrial unit of over 3,000 sq ft with a high office content including a meeting room and associated kitchen and cloakroom facilities – all of which had been recently refurbished and re-fitted.”
He continued: “In addition, our new premises are in an established part of Peterborough where other high profile occupiers are based, such as Coca-Cola and TDL Distribution.”
Mr Lockton concluded: “It’s a busy area, accessible via the city’s great road links to the region’s wider transport network and a taxi-ride away from the railway station for pilot trainees or corporate hospitality clients travelling from, or through, London or other city hubs.”
Richard Jones of Barker Storey Matthews said: “Having been approached by Jonathan last year (2019) with his property requirements, 9 Maxwell Road seemed ideal.
“While not the conventional industrial occupier, we are seeing more and more of these one-off, entrepreneurial style businesses coming to us for such premises.
“They have exacting property requirements which only landlords with premium tier industrial units in Peterborough and the surrounding area can fulfil.”
