Donard Homes has submitted a planning application for up to 250 homes and up to 700 sq m Class E floorspace.

The 0.5-hectare site fronting York Road is currently comprised of a vacant industrial unit previously operated by Bart Ingredients Company. The company are set to relocate its operations to Avonmouth in late 2021.

The proposals include the creation of 244 affordable homes in a mix of one, two and three-bed units across three blocks. Commercial space (up to 700sqm Class E floorspace) is also included in the proposal.

The development will also be connected to Bristol Heat Network, include mechanical heat recovery and provide electric charging points for 80% of the approximately 40 car parking spaces.

York Gate forms part of Temple Quarter, the larger regeneration scheme in the area led by Bristol City Council.

The application was received by Bristol City Council on December 22 and is currently pending consideration.
