Plans have been submitted to convert an apart-hotel, west of Reading, into 20 flats with 20 more added next to it.

Flexistay which operates the apart-hotel on the A4 Bath Road, Padworth, formerly the Comfort Inn, has applied to West Berkshire Council to redevelop the site for 40 one, two and three bedroom flats.

Under the scheme, drawn up by SKM Design, all the flats will be affordable homes, available for rent through housing provider Rentplus under a ‘let to buy’ scheme.

The hotel building is currently being used to house homeless people during the pandemic.
