An application for the phased development of up to 450 dwellings, land for primary school uses, a community hub, travel links and other infrastructure, will be heard this Thursday, at South Gloucestershire Council’s strategic sites delivery committee meeting.
The application is being brought forward by Bloor Homes, and intends to expand upon the existing village of Coalpit Heath, by utilising approximately 38 hectares of agricultural land to the south-east.
Despite the application being outline, Bloor Homes is proposing a 50 per cent provision of affordable housing.
Additionally, the site is located within the Bristol and Bath green belt, and is classified as Flood Zone 1 – the classification with the lowest risk of flooding.
Thursday’s meeting won’t conclude with a decision upon the scheme, as the council has lost the ability to determine the result of the application, instead a full report on the site will be presented ahead of a six-day public inquiry which is scheduled to commence on 24 November.
