A former Conservative Club in Oxford would make way for 52 student rooms in a planning application to the city council.
Planners from JPPC, on behalf of St Peter’s College, have submitted an updated proposal for two buildings which will replace Castle Hill House in New Road.
The new buildings on the 1.1-hectare site, directly opposite Oxford Castle, will house second year undergraduates.
Unlisted Castle Hill House has, according to JPPC’s planning statement, suffered from later additions to the point that it ‘fails to contribute positively’ to the area.
The statement adds: “The proposal can be delivered without resulting in harm to assets of acknowledged archaeological significance.”
