Two schemes for a total of 84 student accommodation units in Oxford have been approved.

Oxford City Council’s west area planning committee has approved Brasenose College’s plans to refurbish and extend buildings at Frewin Hall at New Inn Hall Street for 30 units while St Peter’s College won consent for a block of 54 student flats at Castle Hill House.

Both approvals were voted through at the committee’s December 8 meeting.

The Brasenose scheme will also involve new communal and study space in the grade ll*-listed building.

The St Peter’s scheme will have four storeys at its tallest point and there are plans for communal garden areas and access to the main college buildings. It will mean the demolition of the Castle Hill House and the former Conservative Club.
