As the turnstiles and stands of Brentford FC’s home of many years are demolished, EcoWorld London is consulting on the proposals for what will replace the historic football ground.
Griffin Park, famous for a pub on each corner, has stood for 116 years. In the heart of Brentford and under the Heathrow flightpath, it has long been a recognisable landmark. The name Griffin comes from the nearby Fullers Brewery which owned the land before the ground was built.
The proposals are for the ground to be replaced with 149 new homes, of which 108 will be apartments. The centre of the development, where the centre circle once stood, will become a communal park. Four new entrances will be created, and there will be 65 parking spaces and 279 cycle parking spaces. The developer will plant 50 new trees and increase biodiversity.
A planning submission for the creation of a show home on Braemar Road has yet to be approved.
The London Borough of Hounslow had previously given outline permission for 75 new homes in 2015.
