The new owner of Great Brighams Mead in Reading is seeking to add 72 Permitted Development (PD) flats to the building.

Kings Oak, which bought the 84, 840 sq ft office block in Vastern Road earlier this year from McKay Securities for £19 million, is seeking permission to increase the prior approval already granted to convert the existing building to 110 flats, by adding two floors.

The application seeks to determine if the extension can be added within existing Permitted Development Rights. The additional flats will consist of 36 one-bedroom units and 36 two-bedroom units.

The team on the project includes Future Planning & Development and Stantec.

Great Brighams Mead was first built in 2000 and was occupied by Three until its move to Green Park.
