Plans for a £36 million development at the world-famous Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons hotel and restaurant go before planners on Wednesday (June 29) with a recommendation for approval.
South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee will consider two applications, one for the works and another for listed building approval for the required alterations to the Grade II*-listed 15th Century Manor House.
The development of the venue in Church Road, Great Milton includes:
- A new wellness spa
- A new ‘Bistro Deluxe’
- A new Raymond Blanc Academy
- New garden villas and suites
- New pavilions and storage barns
The scheme has, according to council officers, met the required ‘very special circumstances’ for development in the Green Belt. Wednesday’s agenda acknowledges the scheme offers economic rewards underpinned by significant investment, increased employment and provision for tourism. The meeting agenda says the design goes beyond required sustainability requirements.
Both approval recommendations are subject to being called in by the Secretary of State and the main application is subject to a s106 agreement being agreed.
Design team on the project includes Lichfields, Purcell, Evoke Transport Planning and Ecology by Design.
