Brent Council has published two new Supplementary Planning Documents to protect the planet and improve the well-being of local people. The council has passed new planning guidelines for developers looking to build in the borough.
These guidelines, set out in two Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs), build on the council’s Local Plan policies and clarify the council’s expectations for well-designed places that improve people’s quality of life and create a greener and healthier environment for communities.
The first SPD, ‘Residential Amenity Space and Place Quality’, will help make Brent a healthy, happy, vibrant and inclusive place. It includes detailed guidelines on designing and delivering high-quality private and shared spaces in and around new residential developments, such as gardens, courtyards and roof terraces, to benefit communities.
The second SPD, ‘Sustainable Environment and Development’, details how the council will ensure that new development in Brent is environmentally sustainable.
It includes detailed guidelines on how all future developments can be more sustainable, addressing climate change with cleaner and more efficient energy, lower carbon emissions and more.
