27,000 sq ft deal at Slough

SEGRO has let a 27,000 sq ft unit at Slough Trading Estate to Around Noon.

The 15-lease allows the food-to-go maker to double its current size on the estate. It means the firm can accommodate 300 of its 1,000 staff. A total 200 of the Slough staff will be new recruits.

The company manufactures sandwiches, salads, wraps and fruit pots for leading supermarkets, airlines, coffee chains and caterers.

The unit has undergone a major renovation in line with the developer’s ‘Responsible SEGRO’ commitment to champion low-carbon growth.

Sustainability features include an EPC rating of A+, solar panels, new energy efficient LED light fittings, a heating and comfort cooling system, mechanical ventilation and water reducing products in the toilets, showers to encourage more employees to cycle to work and EV charging points.

The unit also has smart meters installed throughout.

Gareth Chambers, chief executive for Around Noon, said: “We have grown our run rate at Around Noon in Slough from £4 million per annum in 2018 to around £30m per annum today.

“We now manufacture over 400,000 products per week at the existing Slough factory and we are really pleased to have secured additional premises at Slough Trading Estate to support our ongoing growth.”
