The search for an investment partner is about to begin to help bring forward major schemes in Basingstoke.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council wants an investment partnership to enable developments at both the town centre and Basing View.

Work has been ongoing since the council’s December 9 cabinet meeting gave the green light for plans to develop an investment partnership proposal pack, based on the town centre masterplan.

It is due for completion by the end of Spring.

Along with town centre regeneration, the partnership will explore opportunities at vacant plots at Basing View and look at how council‑owned spaces could be better used.

Cabinet member for major projects and regeneration Cllr Onnalee Cubitt said: “Creating a thriving town centre and a successful Basing View that genuinely works for our residents and businesses is absolutely central to what we want to achieve.

“Following our cabinet decision, we have moved quickly to begin the process of finding the right long‑term partner who can help turn the ambitions in our town centre masterplan into a reality and doing it quickly.

“Alongside our short-term work to brighten the area, this next stage is about securing the long‑term investment that will bring new opportunities, more reasons to visit and vibrant spaces where our community can come together. I’m super excited to find a partner who shares our vision for the future.”
