London Square has unveiled Energy Smart three-bedroom townhouses at Twickenham Square in south-west London, promising forecast energy bills from just £27 a month.
The figure is presented as an 80 per cent saving compared with the current UK average of around £137 per month, highlighting how new-build design is being used to counter cost-of-living pressures.
The homes are built with enhanced insulation, airtight construction and low-carbon technologies to keep energy use down. They are said to be up to 15 times more airtight than a typical second-hand home, helping retain heat, reduce draughts, and improve sound insulation. Additional features include wastewater heat recovery, rainwater harvesting, photovoltaic solar panels, and air-source heat pumps.
The launch comes as energy efficiency becomes a bigger priority for buyers: recent research shows more than 40 per cent see a low EPC rating as “very important” when choosing a home, on a par with access to public transport and green space. London Square says this reflects growing concerns not only about utility bills, but also future retrofit costs and resale value.
“With increasing uncertainty over costs, the energy efficiency of a home has moved from a niche consideration to a key factor in buying decisions.”
According to MD North Jo McDonagh, demand is already strong, with just five townhouses remaining. Prices start from £1,405,000. Twickenham Square also offers apartments and other townhouses, and benefits from fast transport links, top-rated schools, riverside access and nearby green spaces including Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
