Guildford Council has appointed Levitt Bernstein, working with WR-AP, ZCD Architects and Kanda Consulting, to lead the first phase of the Westborough and Park Barn Better Homes Programme.
The team will help residents, community groups and stakeholders explore priorities for the area and shape an improvement strategy. No long-term decisions have been made yet, and resident involvement will remain central throughout the process.
The Council selected the consultancy through a two-stage competitive procurement process that included residents in the assessment stages. The Council says this was done to ensure the chosen partner had strong experience in community-led estate regeneration and meaningful engagement. The team will support conversations about future possibilities while the Council gathers evidence about local needs, challenges and aspirations.
Work is also continuing on empty Council homes in the area. Two properties on Southway and four on Roundhill Way have already been demolished because they were structurally unsafe. The cleared Roundhill Way site will become a temporary green community space, with residents helping decide how to use it. Eleven more unsafe properties are due for demolition in the coming months.
At the same time, the Council is refurbishing vacant homes to bring them back into use. Four properties have already been let to local people, and six more are expected to be completed soon.
