Brent Council has opened the first consultation on its new Local Plan, inviting residents, businesses and other stakeholders to help shape the borough’s future up to at least 2041.
The plan will guide decisions on where new homes, jobs, shops and community facilities should go, while also protecting green spaces, heritage assets and local landmarks.
At this early stage, the council is not asking people to comment on detailed proposals. Instead, it wants views on the main issues the plan should address and how people would like to be involved over the next year as more detailed proposals are developed. Topics include affordable housing, employment space, town centres, transport, climate change, parks and open spaces, community facilities and Brent’s distinctive neighbourhood character.
“Before we develop policies and proposals, we want to hear directly from the people who know Brent best.”
Councillor Matt Kelcher, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and property, said the Local Plan will shape where homes are built, how businesses are supported, how transport links improve and how special places are protected. He described the consultation as a genuine opportunity for residents to help set the agenda from the outset.
The council says feedback will help identify the borough’s key challenges and opportunities and inform the next stage of plan-making. The consultation is open until Wednesday 30 September. Take part here: Have your say today.
