The final phase of the Green Man Lane estate regeneration in West Ealing can now restart after Ealing Council approved changes to the development agreement.
A new developer partner, Higgins Partnerships, will take over the remaining work and complete the last planned homes, after the project was paused for three years when the previous contractor entered administration.
The regeneration began in 2005 to tackle a shortage of family-sized homes and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. Since then, more than 500 new homes have been delivered, along with a community centre, community café, and a new building for St John’s Primary School.
The final phase is expected to add around 400 more homes. These will include social rent homes, intermediate rent homes for eligible renters such as key workers, shared ownership homes, and some properties for sale on the open market. The market sales will help fund the affordable homes.
Ealing Council says the new arrangement will allow the project to move forward with detailed design work and, once planning consent is secured, begin construction. The council and A2Dominion will continue working together on the scheme.
Council leaders said the project will help more local families access safe, energy-efficient and genuinely affordable homes, while completing a long-awaited stage of renewal for the estate. The finished development is intended to create a neighbourhood that better meets local needs and supports people to build their lives in the borough.
