Plans have been submitted for a 30,523 sq m data centre in Iver on behalf of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Amazon Data Services, the operational division of AWS, has submitted its proposals to develop the 7.3-hectare Ridgeway Distribution Centre, to Buckinghamshire Council.

Amazon Data Services UK, which acquired the site – part of Ridgeway Trading Estate – in 2022 from Aberdeen for £132.5 million, wants to replace the existing 17 buildings for a new structure of two floors, each 8.5 metres tall.

The move is part of Amazon’s £8 billion investment programme for data centres across the UK.

Its application, planned by Lichfields, states: “The existing brownfield industrial site represents an opportunity for significant large-scale investment, to create sustainable economic growth through the development of a high-quality hyperscale data centre.”

As well as Lichfields, the team includes MCA Architects, and 3D Reid on design and E3P on ecology.
