Ealing Council Planning Committee has approved the redevelopment of KT summit House, a vacant five-storey building on Hanger Lane despite local opposition.
The plan includes demolishing the existing structure to construct a mixed-use development featuring a part five, part thirteen storey hotel. This new building will encompass 10,350 square metres, including a music venue and ancillary cultural space totaling 1,100 square metres. Additionally, the development will offer 660 square metres of affordable workspace and 180 square metres of exhibition space at the ground and lower ground floors.
The site, located on the west side of Hanger Lane, benefits from a five-metre wide footpath and a rear car parking area accessible via Brunswick Road. The proposal aims to enhance the public realm with both soft and hard landscaping, along with improved servicing and delivery facilities. The development will include 378 apart-hotel rooms, 170 square metres of creative studio space, a 310 square metre shared workplace and café, 435 square metres of hotel amenities, and 250 square metres of terrace landscaping.
This project aligns with the National Planning Policy Framework (2024) and the London Plan (2021), promoting economic growth and supporting London’s visitor economy. The apart-hotel is considered a form of visitor infrastructure, and the cultural and commercial spaces are expected to increase employment opportunities on-site. The design features a contemporary aesthetic with a stepped profile, reaching a maximum height of 42.5 meters at the front and 19.5 meters at the rear. The façade will be finished with precast panels coloured to complement the surrounding area, ensuring the development integrates well with its context. A hotel management plan will be secured through a S106 agreement to manage the apart-hotel operations effectively.
