Approval has been granted to replace a 3,920 sq m office development in South Reading, which has approval for residential,  with a 4,308 sq m industrial building.

A scheme by Ultima Properties to convert two two-storey office buildings called Bennet Court in Bennet Road to 49 flats was approved in 2021.

But now a new application by DV5 Coltham (Reading) to demolish the current buildings in favour of an industrial scheme was approved by Reading Borough Council’s planning applications committee on September 6.

The building will have 646 sq m of offices at the front with a biodiverse green roof. It will seek to be a minimum BREEAM Excellent but will aim for Outstanding.

The team on the project includes BHP Design on architecture and Stantec on planning.

Also at the meeting councillors agreed to allow department stores at the Oracle shopping centre to be subdivided.
