The new phase, led by Battersea Power Station Development Company and Sisk, will continue transforming the 42-acre riverside neighbourhood.
The project is expected to generate around 400 jobs, with a target of 20 per cent local employment. That local focus has already been surpassed across the wider Battersea Power Station development, which has created 7,500 jobs to date, including through Wandsworth Work Match. Construction is scheduled to finish in 2030.
Prospect Place South will deliver about 300 homes, 65,000 sq ft of commercial space for shops, cafes and restaurants, a 15,000 sq ft Community Hub, and a larger bike hub with 600 free spaces. Designed by Gehry Partners, the scheme includes two buildings, Rosewood House and Hayworth House, completing the Electric Boulevard high street.
James Saunders, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company, said the project marks an exciting new chapter and will create more jobs and community facilities. He also highlighted Sisk as a key partner in delivering the next Gehry-designed buildings.
The development places strong emphasis on sustainability, with a modern design aimed at reducing carbon emissions, green roofs on both buildings, and a minimum 10 per cent biodiversity net gain.
Guests at the ceremony included Marsha de Cordova MP, local council representatives, Wandsworth Work Match, and members of the Malaysian consortium that bought the site in 2012.
