Brent Council has welcomed the completion of 115 high-quality council homes from developer St George, part of the Grand Union development’s commitment to providing over 1,000 affordable homes.

These homes, located along an 850-metre canal frontage within Clearwater House, offer a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom options. Residents are already settling in and enjoying the new restaurants, shops, and community amenities nearby.

This handover marks the second phase of affordable housing at Grand Union, contributing to the 1,170 homes dedicated to affordable rent or shared ownership. The development in Alperton combines residential, retail, leisure, and industrial spaces, creating a vibrant community.

The handover ceremony in June was attended by key figures, including Councillor Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, and Piers Clanford, chief operating officer at Berkeley Group. Councillor Fleur Donnelly-Jackson, cabinet member for housing, expressed pride in the project, stating, “These affordable homes are much more than just bricks and mortar; they provide a safe and secure haven for our residents.”

Piers Clanford highlighted the collaborative effort with Brent Council, emphasising the transformation of a derelict industrial estate into a thriving neighbourhood. The development reflects a strong commitment to community engagement and quality living spaces.
