More than 60 flats have been added to the proposals for Station Hill in Reading.

Site owner Lincoln MGT was granted permission for 538 flats in Phase One of the scheme around Friars Walk. Now the developer has applied to Reading Borough Council to add a further 61 homes. It will mean the loss of some commercial space on the ground floor and some additional heights to some buildings.

A spokesperson for the development said: “The Station Hill redevelopment has recently submitted proposals to amend the consented outline planning permissions for Phase One of the development, secured by Lincoln MGT in 2019.

“This resubmission proposes additional homes and enhanced ground floor uses as part of a strategy to ensure that the scheme meets the changing market needs and is commercially viable and sustainable over the long-term.

“These revised proposals will deliver an additional new 61 apartments, some of which will be located on the ground floor. Furthermore, a percentage of the additional 61 apartments will be affordable homes.

“Once complete, Station Hill will combine to deliver up to 1,200 new homes, office accommodation for approximately 8,000 employees, 100,000 sq ft of lifestyle-led space for retail, cafes and restaurants, a new pedestrian link and activated public realm between the station and the town centre, becoming a new district and destination for Reading.

“If you would like to get in touch with the project team to ask any questions about these changes to the planning permission for Phase One, or any questions on the development in general, please email us at estatesoffice@stationhill.co.uk.”
