A consultation event will be held to show off a proposed new community hub for Staines where citizens advice, a museum, a charity and the library will be accommodated under one roof.

Surrey County Council is proposing the Staines Hub at the former Decathlon unit in the Elmsleigh Centre. Its consultation will be held at the current library in Friends Walk between 2pm and 7.30pm on September 12.

The plans include space for Staines Library, Citizens Advice Bureau, Spelthorne Museum and Voluntary Support North Surrey and there will be additional space which can be let out. Events for up to 100 people will be possible at the new venue.

This work is part of the library transformation programme which began in 2019 when a libraries & cultural services strategy was signed off by Surrey County Council’s cabinet.
