Ealing Council has given the green light to the ambitious redevelopment of the derelict White Hart Hotel site, located on the roundabout with access to the A40 in Northolt.
The approved plan includes the construction of a multi-storey hotel featuring a bar, restaurant, gym, and function rooms. The development will range from three to nine storeys, integrating modern amenities with the restoration of the existing Grade II-listed pub building. This blend of old and new results from extensive discussions with Council planning officers, ensuring a balance between development and heritage conservation.
Situated just north of the White Hart roundabout, the site is strategically positioned at the south end of the Northolt shopping parade on Church Road. The project aims to breathe new life into the area, where the derelict pub building has long dominated. This decision marks a significant step in revitalising the region while preserving its historical essence.
Initially approved in October 2021, the revised scheme introduces several changes, including an increase of 23 hotel rooms and an additional floor, bringing the tallest section to nine storeys. Despite its height, the development is designed to minimise impact on neighbouring properties, with strategic tree planting and careful consideration of building distances.
Key improvements include enhanced hotel facilities such as a self-check-in reception, a restaurant, a breakfast bar, and a fitness suite. The main access has been streamlined to Newdene Villas, with emergency access from Church Road, ensuring efficient traffic flow and safety.
The redevelopment promises to transform the site into a vibrant hub, offering modern conveniences while respecting the historical significance of the White Hart Public House. This project revitalises a neglected area and strengthens community ties by preserving a piece of Ealing’s heritage.
