Hammersmith Planning Committee unanimously approved the conversion of part of the existing office building at 104 King Street, London W6 0QW into an aparthotel.

The scheme, proposed by TE Hammersmith 2 Ltd, will change part of the Use Class E office accommodation into Use Class C1 hotel accommodation, with a maximum of 68 bedrooms. Any increase in lettable rooms will require further council approval.

The committee accepted that the loss of office use was justified because the completed building had remained unoccupied since April 2023 and had not attracted tenants. Members considered the proposal beneficial to the local economy, supporting Hammersmith Town Centre and the wider regeneration area by diversifying uses and strengthening the visitor economy.

The development was found to have high design quality and to be suitable for its location. It was judged not to harm the character or significance of nearby heritage assets, including the Bradmore Conservation Area and the Hammersmith Town Hall Conservation Area.

Officers also confirmed that transport, highways, environmental, air quality, flood risk, contamination, energy, and residential amenity impacts had been satisfactorily addressed, subject to conditions and obligations. The decision was made in line with the NPPF, London Plan, and Local Plan policies.
