Imperial College has received planning permission for a new student accommodation building on Plot A, including commercial and business space on the lower floors.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council planning committee consented to the building at the planning meeting on 18 October 2023, subject to approval by the Greater London Authority.

Plot A is located at the corner of Wood Lane and Shinfield Street. It is the last building in the part of the White City Campus that is north of the Westway (A40).

Plot A was previously identified as the location for new academic offices and support facilities. However, this will now form part of the White City Campus south site on the other side of the Westway (A40).

The proposal is for the erection of part 3 storey rising to 12 storeys building for purpose-built student accommodation use, with commercial, business and service (Class E) use on the ground floor; ancillary campus security and facility management space, laundry, cycle parking and associated works.

The accommodation will be for 216 studio rooms, of which 35 per cent would be affordable. This is after making alterations for a second staircase due to the new rules proposed by the Department of Levelling Up.
