Morgan Sindall Construction has appointed Jamie Shearman to head up its Cambridge office, overseeing the Cambridgeshire region, with significant focus on the conurbations around Cambridge, Alconbury, and Peterborough. As well as this, the company has opened a new office in Chelmsford.

With a background as a quantity surveyor, Jamie has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, and has worked extensively in bid and pre-construction, formerly holding the role of pre-construction director on a national framework.

Jamie takes on the area director role from Bob Ensch, who will remain with the business in a business development role.

Morgan Sindall Construction is on-site at a number of key developments across Cambridge, including the redevelopment of the world-famous Cambridge Union Society building and delivering a new £14.2 million primary school for St Neots.

The school will sit at the heart of the first phase of Urban&Civic’s 162-hectare development which will be a sustainable new development with 2,800 homes and a range of community and sports facilities, health and green space.

Morgan Sindall Construction has also opened a new office in Chelmsford following strong performances across the Eastern Counties.

A strong pipeline of key projects and ongoing expansion across the region has prompted Morgan Sindall Construction to launch its Essex office, which will sit within its East region alongside offices in Ipswich, Norwich and Cambridge, and cover projects within Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex.

The company has appointed Chris Travers as Area Director to head up the new office. Chris has over 20 years’ experience working across the region and is passionate about creating effective partnerships to deliver optimum outcomes.

Chris said: “I’m extremely pleased and proud to be leading Morgan Sindall Construction’s team in Essex and overseeing the launch of our new office in the region. We’ve got an outstanding team in place here and this is a key region for our business and one where we have significant experience working closely with our supply chain and our public and private sector clients to deliver brilliant projects where people want to live, learn, work, and play.

In Essex, Morgan Sindall Construction is on site working on a number of significant schemes including actively delivering projects under key frameworks, including Essex County Council’s new Essex Construction Framework 2.

The council has established the four-year framework agreement for principal contractors to carry out both design and construction only works. Morgan Sindall Construction has also retained its positioned on both the Suffolk and Norfolk construction frameworks, as well as the University of East Anglia’s Contractor Framework.
