Hillingdon Council Major Applications Planning Committee (May 24) has approved the redevelopment of the Canteen Building on the former Nestle Factory site, now known as Hayes Village development by Barratt Homes and SEGRO.

The application is for the partial demolition and redevelopment of the former Canteen Building to provide a new healthcare facility, nursery and residential building with a commercial unit on the ground floor, including associated landscaping, access, car parking and other engineering works.

Haye Village will provide 1,386 new homes near the Hayes and Harlington Elizabeth Line station.

Recognizing the site’s history, the developers have kept critical elements of the original factory design restored and integrated into the new homes. The iconic Art Deco entrance will be retained alongside the original staircase and south façade of the main factory building.

In addition, historic factory machinery will be integrated into the apartment buildings to retain their original character. The original canteen building will be refurbished and gifted to the Council for community use.
