As outlined in the new Chelmsford City Council Local Plan, Chelmsford Garden Community is set to be the greenest community in Chelmsford, with a new agreement recently signed to deliver 80 net-zero carbon ready homes.

The scheme, set to be developed by Chelmsford City Council, working with Countryside Zest, Columbia Threadneedle, Channels, Hanson, Ptarmigan Land and Homes England have agreed on funding for a significant phase of the development, in line with the Government’s emerging Future Homes Standard.

Countryside Zest is currently working on the reserved matters application for the scheme, which includes approximately 80 carbon-neutral homes at Beaulieu, located north east of Chelmsford with access to the A130 and A12.

The wider scheme also includes 10,000 new homes, 45,000 sq. m of employment space, a country park, transport improvements (including the new Chelmsford North East Bypass, a new radial road and improvements to the bus system), two primary and secondary schools, a nursery, and nine plots for travelling showpeople.

It is hoped that a planning application will be submitted by the end of 2021, with the first phases of construction complete in 2023.
