An application for the construction of a 66-bedroom two-storey care home for older people will be heard at tomorrows Broadland Planning Committee meeting.
The proposal is being brought forward by LNT Care Developments, for land to the east of Prince Andrew’s Road, upon a 1.46-hectare site which comprises the now vacant Jarrolds Sports Ground.
There is a residential dwelling remaining upon the site, which is a bungalow style property, this would be demolished to make way for the care home, which will be constructed in a “H” shape.
The proposal would also add 30 new car spaces, two new disability spaces, and eight new cycle spaces, as well as new vehicular and pedestrian accesses.
Officer recommendation
Currently the officer recommendation is for approval – subject to conditions and the completion of a S106 – as the application is assessed to have significant benefits, and is in alignment with the new NPPF, specifically in the promotion of sustainable developments.
