An outline planning application for the development of up to 380 class C3 dwellings at Filwood House and Verona House, will be heard at tomorrows Bristol City Council Planning Committee B meeting.
The scheme is being brought forward by Central Fishponds, with Turley acting as agent.
This proposal forms part of the Atlas Place masterplan, which is comprised of three brownfield sites that Bristol City Council has identified as key areas for growth in its Local Plan, and could provide up to 4,500 homes.
Alongside the dwellings – which would be delivered on a phased basis – the application also seeks 730 sq m of floorspace for either commercial or employment purposes.
There would also be a reduction in the number of car parking spaces on the 4.65-hectare site, from 326 to 290.
The buildings currently situated upon the site, which include warehouses and offices, would be demolished in order to make way for the new dwellings.
According to the schemes application form there are currently 217 full-time employees located at the site, however the if the scheme was completed, they would have to be relocated or restructured elsewhere.
Officer recommendation
The scheme is currently recommended for approval, subject to conditions and the completion of a S106, as it would contribute to housing delivery in Bristol, which was assessed to be of significant material consideration following the city failing to deliver 50 per cent of its target last year.
