Plans for a new building for the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) have been submitted to Wokingham Borough Council.
The ECMWF has been at Shinfield Park since 1979 but has been seeking a move for several years. Now the Government Property Agency has submitted proposals for a new building at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus.
The new complex will replace a series of single-storey buildings known as TOB1, which currently house the School of Art and a warehouse building, which is used by outside businesses.
It will be net zero carbon and aims to achieve BREEAM Excellent. It will have 216 parking spaces.
The team on the project includes Stantec and BDP Architects.
