Families have begun moving into Daisy Court, the first brand new council homes delivered as part of the long-awaited regeneration of Cambridge Road Estate in Kingston. The opening marks a major milestone in Kingston Council’s largest housing regeneration programme in living memory, with 42 households now settling into new homes.

The scheme was shaped by residents, who backed the plans in 2020 and helped define the redevelopment’s priorities. Their views helped drive the design toward high-quality, safe, sustainable homes that are part of a stronger, more connected neighbourhood.

In total, the regeneration will deliver 2,170 new homes, including 1,148 affordable homes and 974 council homes, helping to meet the borough’s urgent housing needs. The new homes use modern, sustainable construction methods, improved insulation, and accessible design, with shared public spaces and landscaping intended to create a greener, more welcoming environment.

“This is a hugely significant moment for Cambridge Road Estate and for Kingston as a whole,” said Councillor Emily Davey. “Seeing the first residents move into Daisy Court is the result of years of work, partnership and, most importantly, the support, vision and patience of local residents and neighbours.”

She added that the regeneration is about “creating a safer, greener and stronger community for many, many years to come.”

Work is continuing across the estate, with approval secured for Phase 1C, which will deliver a further 122 council homes and a new community hub. The Phase 2 planning application has also been submitted.
