Plans by Guild Living for a unique, seven-storey, elderly living community in the heart of Uxbridge have been recommended for refusal.

The developer, in partnership with Legal & General, proposes the demolition of an existing building on the town centre site, to be replaced with a seven-storey residential care building for 128 people. It includes a café, nursery and well-being facilities.

Despite a promised contribution of £500 000, the planning team at Hillingdon has recommended the planning committee to refuse the proposal at the April 21 meeting.

Reasons given are height and density, insufficient affordable housing (or contribution) and lack of an overheating assessment.

Guild Living, which both builds and operates its schemes, has further proposed developments at Bath, Epsom and Walton-on-Thames.
