Hammersmith & Fulham residents will soon have a new and improved chance to earn fixed returns and fund improvements in their local area.

Their pioneering £ five million investment offer, H&F Green Investment, returns on Monday, 2 June, with a fixed annual return over five years.

Thanks to a new deal with the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, every pound invested by H&F residents and businesses will now be matched with an additional 50p. This means that local investments will have a 50 per cent greater impact on vital green projects.

Cllr Rowan Ree, H&F cabinet member for finance & reform, said: “This match-funding is fantastic news for our local investors. By bringing together residents and big institutions, we’re creating more green spaces for local people while protecting nature in Hammersmith & Fulham – another example of our ruthlessly financially efficient approach to creating a stronger, safer and kinder borough.”

The news comes after residents helped raise £750,000 in our most recent investment round, which also saw a financial boost from Unity Bank.

It brings the total amount raised since November 2023 to more than £ 2 million.

H&F Green Investment has funded daily improvements that residents can see and enjoy. New rain gardens in Edith Road in West Kensington protect homes and businesses from flooding. The attractive planting has replaced unused road space while helping absorb rainfall and cool the area during hot weather.

Similar schemes in King Street, Hammersmith, and Eelbrook Common, Fulham, have transformed grey surfaces into luscious green spaces. Meanwhile, in Purcell Crescent off Lillie Road, Fulham residents enjoy dozens of new trees, planted to help boost biodiversity and clean the air.

The scheme has also funded more than 120 secure bike hangars across H&F. These popular facilities make it easier for residents to switch from cars to bikes for local journeys.

The new interest rate will be confirmed before the offer goes live on Monday, 2 June. It will run for three months or until the target is reached, with investments starting from just £5.
