Carter Jonas has let 20 Buckingway Business Park on behalf of Cambridge based property company Aula Property Partnership LLP.

The unit has been let to Smiths Brothers Stores Ltd, a national wholesaler of heating and plumbing equipment, following Aula’s acquisition of the premises in December last year.

Following Carter Jonas’s involvement in identifying the firms requirements, subject to some minor improvements being fulfilled a 10-year lease has been completed.

William Rooke, partner at Carter Jonas said “Having worked with Aula to acquire the unit, we focused on getting the property let within a 12-month timeframe, and we are pleased to have achieved this with such a good quality tenant as SBS. The market for warehouse and distribution space, particularly around Cambridge, is very competitive and Buckingway is an ideal location for SBS due to the proximity to the A14 and ease of access to the city.”

Chris Bartram, director of Aula said “We identified early on in the pandemic that units of this type were only going to increase in demand, and I was pleased that Carter Jonas were not only able to acquire this property for us, but also to secure the letting to SBS within a short timeframe. SBS has been professional and easy to deal with throughout the lease negotiations and I look forward to working with them during the course of their lease. Aula now has a portfolio of investments of c£12m, with £8m equity still to invest and is actively seeking further properties.”

Sandeep Uppal, branch manager at SBS Cambridge said “We are delighted to have secured a home for our new branch in Cambridge. The unit located at 20 Buckingway is an ideal location for our business and with some help from Aula on the external configuration, the unit now works perfectly for our requirements. The customers of Cambridge can now look forward to receiving the SBS service shortly.”

Buckingway Business Park is situated just north of J28 of the A14, near Swavesey and approximately 10 miles from central Cambridge. Unit 20 is a detached medium sized warehouse in the centre of the industrial estate, with Smith Brothers soon having 17 branches across England, Scotland and Wales.
