Associated Housing and Healthcare (AHH) and Savills have confirmed the sale of Udney Park Teddington to a mystery overseas buyer.
Speculation surrounds the buyer, including a Chinese purchaser or even an offshore arm of AHH. The new owner is yet to make themselves known. This leaves local community groups in limbo and unclear about their long-term future.
Simon Davis of Teddington RFC, a member of the Udney Park Foundation, has written;
“To allay any concerns and address the inevitable speculation that may arise, the TRFC lease, which is for one-third of the playing fields, has 18 months to run with six months notice period. Due to the scale of our operations and the challenges we have had in the past in securing alternative local midweek training facilities, especially at short notice, our intention is to continue to use the site for the coming season (2022/23). Our long-term intention remains the same, to be part of a solution which secures the Udney Park Road site for ongoing community sporting use.”
The Udney Park Foundation consisting of local sports teams, made an offer of £1.25 million for the land, which the sellers turned down
