In July, the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) approved the Strategic Outline Business Case (SOBC) for the Waterbeach to Cambridge transport link, confirming that there is a strategic case and public support.

A new, high-quality public transport link would improve access to Cambridge from the north via the A10 corridor by public transport, cycling, and for pedestrians.

The project team at GCP have now commenced the technical work needed to progress the project further, including outlining options for a preferred route. The routes will be based on the two areas of most interest identified in the strategic business case for the development: the western area of interest and the revised central area of interest.

Further stakeholder engagement will be undertaken later in the year to help identify a preferred route, before undertaking a public consultation on a preferred route for the project next year.

The consultation results will be taken to the GCP executive board with further technical work to ask them for a decision on the preferred route.
