Wates has announced the permanent appointment of George Mosey as managing director (MD) for Construction London.

Since joining Wates in March 2025 as UK operations director, George has focused on advancing safety, quality, sustainability, and operational performance. With more than 17 years’ experience in a range of senior positions, he is now stepping into the permanent MD role, having taken on the interim MD role at the end of February.

Over the past few months, George has demonstrated a strong commitment and energy to the role, helping provide the team with clarity and stability, and building momentum with colleagues across the Construction team.

As managing director for Wates Construction London, George will lead the business’s strategy and operations. His primary focus is performance excellence and ensuring that translates into positive outcomes for customers. This builds on his work to date in our Construction business, through the continuous improvement programme he introduced in 2025 and will continue to drive forward.

Since stepping into the role on an interim basis, George has brought strong leadership and a clear sense of direction for the Construction London team.

Steff Battle, executive managing director, Wates Construction, said:

“His ability to build momentum has been evident, and I am delighted to confirm his appointment on a permanent basis and to see his energy and focus continue to drive the business forward.”

Wates Construction’s business will now begin recruiting a replacement UK Operations Director to ensure continuity in that role.
