The first consultation on the West London Orbital is now live and will run for eight weeks, closing on 18 November 2026.
It invites people across West London to share their views on a proposal for a new West London Orbital rail service, which would become part of the London Overground and aim to make travel across the area more convenient.
The consultation explains the proposed route, new stations, changes to existing stations, and possible impacts on local communities. It also provides ways to ask questions and access further information, including in accessible formats. Feedback gathered during the consultation will help shape how the proposals are developed further and support TfL’s response to issues raised by the public.
The proposed scheme would create an 18.5km overground passenger route between Hounslow and Hendon, bringing an existing freight line into passenger use. Four new stations are proposed at Neasden, Harlesden, Old Oak Common Lane and Lionel Road, alongside additional platforms at Hendon and Brent Cross West. Earlier ideas for a route to West Hampstead Thameslink have been replaced by a higher-frequency Hounslow-Hendon option, though future services to West Hampstead would still remain possible.
The consultation also highlights the project’s wider purpose: supporting new homes and jobs, improving transport capacity, and delivering environmental and social benefits. It aims to connect key town centres and Opportunity Areas such as Old Oak and Park Royal, Brent Cross and Cricklewood, Wembley, Burnt Oak and Colindale, Heathrow and the Great West Corridor.
