The London Borough of Hounslow Planning Committee has approved the redevelopment of 250 Gunnersbury Avenue, the North Circular Road.

The proposal is to redevelop the site to provide a building comprising a self-storage facility (Class B8) and flexible office/light industrial use, together with associated car and cycle parking, refuse storage, access, and landscaping.

The location is prominent on North Circular Road. The applicant is HOLD Self Storage Ltd. HOLD Self Storage, a new, independent urban storage provider looking to redefine the landscape of self-storage services within London. HOLD’s vision is to create a space that goes beyond a traditional self-storage facility, evolving into a dynamic hub,

The proposed building, with its potential to accommodate up to ten storeys and a maximum height of 29.871 metres, is a unique addition to the area. It employs an art-deco design inspiration, with distinctive curved fenestration on the north-west elevation, a brick base, vertical brick piers, brick horizontal crown, and curtain walling throughout.

The building, with its 98 per cent reduction in carbon emissions and high-quality design, is not just a visual asset but also an economic one. The current vacant site, once redeveloped, will bring the area back into an economically productive use, providing significant economic benefits for Hounslow.

DMWR are the architects of the project.
