London West looks at the case for the West London Orbital (WLO).

Additional funding is required to see the WLO project initiated.

The WLO is a proposal to re-use existing railway tracks to provide a London Overground service from Hendon to Hounslow.

Connecting North London to West London, the line would pass through Old Oak Common (HS2) and connect to the Elizabeth Line.

The WLO would provide the following benefits:

  • Serves 15,900 new homes and up to 270,620 in the London Plan borough targets.
  • Four new stations.
  • Almost 12 million passengers.
  • Serves five Opportunity Areas creating 140,000 new jobs.

At an estimated cost of £430 to £610 million, the project would be funded from developer contributions, Government grants and other sources.

It has been reported in the Civil Engineer that the West London Alliance will fund a feasibility study and that the project will move forward.
