Councillors in West Berkshire have approved a plan for 104 homes at Theale.

The Englefield Estate’s proposals for the homes on a 7.15-hectare site north of The Green in Theale were approved by the eastern area planning committee by six to three at its July 15 meeting.

Forty per cent of the homes will be affordable and 83 per cent of the market homes will be three or four bedroom properties.

Councillors questioned the position of the northern pedestrian access although the highways department was satisfied with it.

Cllr Graham Pask said: “The principle of this development is established and I think the devil will be in the detail of the reserved matters to a very great extent but I am happy with the prospect of this going ahead at this stage.”
