Plans for 130 homes and a 70-bed dementia care home go before councillors in Wokingham for a second time on July 13 with a recommendation for approval.

The outline application was deferred at Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee on May 11 so that members could perform a site visit.

They wanted to assess the noise impact of the A329M on the development, access to the site and the ‘perceived isolation of the location’.

The scheme for the 7.7-hectare site next to the Toutley Depot, which was submitted by the council, is for energy efficient homes which have solar panels, air source heat pumps and high levels of insulation. It will be accessed from Twyford Road.

Of the 130 properties in the scheme, which is known as Toutley East, there will be a 35 per cent affordable allocation.

The site had been identified for employment use in the Local Plan but a change to residential was made in the Local Plan update of 2020.
