Approval has been recommended for a total of 301 units of co-living accommodation near the centre of Guildford.

Tiger Developments’ application for a 0.37-hectare site (formerly Guildford Plaza / Burymead House) between Portsmouth Road and Bury Street consists of four blocks ranging in height of between four and six storeys.

Guildford Borough Council’s planning committee will decide the plans for the site, which has been vacant for more than 20 years, on Wednesday, February 2.

The proposed scheme has 249 studio flats and 13 ‘cluster apartments’ of four studios set around a communal kitchen and lounge. Of the 301 total bedspaces, 67 are affordable.

An assisted living scheme was approved for the site in 2018.

Architect for the Tiger scheme is Coffey with Barton Willmore as planning consultant.
