Plans for 44 flats close to Hungerford station have been submitted to West Berkshire Council.

Archel Homes has applied to develop the vacant 0.32-hectare site of a former warehouse which was demolished in 2009, along with an additional parcel of land which had been the garden of the nearby Railway Tavern. The warehouse site had been used as a temporary car park.

The developer plans one four-storey block of one and two-bedroom flats, 30 per cent of them affordable.

The site had been granted permission for 30 flats in 2019 but a plan for 45 retirement flats was refused in October.

The scheme, planned by Savills, was designed by DHA Architecture. Aspect Landscape Planning provided landscaping.
