Plans for 63 flats and two commercial units have been approved by Slough Borough Council.

The scheme, proposed by Slough Property 2 Ltd, which will replace retail units at 190-192, High Street, was approved by the council’s planning committee on May 26.

Two blocks, one of six storeys and one of 10 will be linked by a five-storey connecting block.

No affordable homes have been included in the scheme and no developer contribution has been agreed.

Representing the developer, Lottie Hurst from Jaspar Management, said: “The applicant is committed to delivering additional benefits but viability is an issue at this site.

“The council’s assessors have independently found that there would be a deficit of £3.3 million and the scheme cannot, therefore, support a contribution.”

However, councillors voted by eight to one to approve the application.
