Plans have been submitted to replace 462 student accommodation units at Oxford Brookes University with a development of 1,035 new ones.

The university has applied to Oxford City Council to demolish 12, mostly 1970s, buildings in a 4.8-hectare section of the Clive Booth Student Village and replace them with 12 more plus a children’s day nursery. There will be alterations to parking and new cycle and foot paths. There will also be a welcome pavilion and a waste compactor will be installed.

Around 1,000 sq m of social space will be provided in addition to kitchen and common areas and there will be further facilities like laundry rooms and bike stores.

The team on the project includes MICA Architects, Turner & Townsend as project manager, Savills as planning consultant and Arup as engineering consultancy.
