Permission has been granted for Oxford City Housing Ltd’s (OCH), biggest development.

OCHL, the city council’s housing company, will now build 80 homes on land west of Mill Lane at Marston, 40 of them affordable and 40 for market sale.

The scheme will include 13 one-bed flats, 28 two-bedroom houses, 35 three-bedroom houses and four four-bedroom houses.

The new development will aim for carbon emissions 70 per cent below current building regulations.

Helen Horne, managing director at OCHL, said: “We are a social impact developer focusing on providing design-led affordable homes that are comfortable, sustainable and that aim to add value to the local community.

“Mill Lane, Marston is an integral part of our ambitious development programme and we look forward to procuring a contractor and start building these new homes in 2022.”

OCHL will now begin the tender process and hopes to appoint a contractor by March 2022. Work could then begin in May, with the completion of the development expected by the end of 2023.
